The millionaire New York-bred mare Critical Eye was a hard-knocking homebred for Herbert and Carol Schwartz and was trained throughout her career by their son, Scott. Her biggest victories came at the home of her namesake race, Belmont Park, with Grade 1 scores in the Gazelle Handicap and Hempstead Handicap, along with a Grade 2 triumph in an off-the-turf edition of the Sheepshead Bay. Among her other victories was the historic Grade 3 Ladies at Aqueduct Racetrack.
