Mo Donegal, winner of the Grade 2 Wood Memorial presented by Resorts World Casino in April at the Big A, will look to give Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher his fourth Belmont Stakes score following memorable wins with filly Rags to Riches [2007], Palace Malice [2013] and Tapwrit [2017].
The late-running Uncle Mo colt, who also took down the Grade 2 Remsen in December at Aqueduct, exited the inside post in the Kentucky Derby and overcame a slow start to finish fifth, defeated 3 3/4-lengths by Rich Strike.
Mo Donegal has kept good company in his graded wins, besting Kentucky Derby runner-up Zandon in the Remsen and Grade 1 Preakness winner Early Voting in the Wood Memorial. He will be piloted in the Belmont Stakes by three-time Eclipse Award-winning jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr., who won the 2016 Belmont Stakes aboard Creator.
