Deadline for Belmont Stakes media credential applications is Tuesday, May 23

The New York Racing Association, Inc. would like to remind members of the media that the deadline to apply for credentials for the 2017 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival and the 149th running of the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes is Tuesday, May 23. Applications received after this date will not be accepted.

The credential application for the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, which includes the final jewel of racing's Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes on June 10, can be accessed at http://credentials.nyra.com

Professional news organizations and media outlets are encouraged to submit one collective application for all attending employees. For freelance journalists and photographers, the application must be submitted by an assigning editor or editor-in-chief.

A headshot is required for each applicant, as well as a letter of assignment from the assigning editor or editor-in-chief. Proof of insurance, where applicable, will also be required.

Please keep in mind that a completed application does not guarantee approval of a credential request. Access is a privilege, not a right. By completing this application, the applicant agrees to abide by all rules and guidelines outlined by the New York Racing Association, Inc. and sign a Media Release, Indemnification and Insurance Agreement. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Please note that members of the media who possess a yearly credential are still required to apply for a Belmont Stakes Racing Festival credential as well.

For any questions, please contact Alyssa Salig in the NYRA Communications department at [email protected] or at (718) 659-2244.

A deep dive into the Belmont’s archives, however, reveals an event with a legacy that has experienced significant changes to many of its characteristics since the inaugural edition in 1867.
