One of the most recognizable and successful jockeys of all-time is set to join Belmont Experiences at the 2019 Belmont Stakes.

Pat Day, three-time Belmont Stakes winning jockey, will be a guest of Belmont Experiences over race weekend and will be available through the Celebrity Jockey meet-and-greet held in The Diamond Room located in the North Shore Terrace of Belmont Park.

Pat Day’s Career

Pat Day’s jockey career was one of sustained success over a long period of time. Day had his first Thoroughbred winner in 1973 at Prescott Downs in Arizona, started to make waves in the sport in the late 1980’s and refused to slow down until he retired in 2005.

Over a three-decade career, Day was awarded the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey four times (1984, ’86, ’87, ’91) and totaled an immaculate 8,803 victories with a 22-percent win percentage. His career earning totals topped $297 million, ranking him fourth all-time amongst jockeys.

One of the main highlights of Day’s historic career was his ability to perform at any race on the Triple Crown trail. While being a three-time Belmont champion, Day also won the Kentucky Derby in 1992 and finished first at the Preakness Stakes a whopping five times.

Day has sat atop some of the most recognizable and prolific horses over the past few decades, including Easy Goer, Awesome Again, Cat Thief, Tabasco Cat and Sky Classic.

For his many contributions to the sport over a historic career, Day was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1991.
