Doremifasollatido tunes up for Acorn

With track announcer Tom Durkin singing her praises through the stretch, Doremifasollatido split horses and drew clear to win the Grade 2 Matron Stakes here at Belmont Park last fall. Crowned last year's champion New York-bred juvenile filly on the strength of that performance, Doremifasollatido makes her first start since the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in Friday's $65,000 Fall Aspen Stakes at Belmont Park.
Doremifasollatido drew the rail for the six-furlong overnight stakes, and will meet Southern Charmer, Puddy de Luca, Daily Star, and Light Green in her first start since a five-wide trip in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.
In that race, Doremifasollatido sustained a chip in a front ankle that required surgery. She had two easy three-furlong breezes in Ocala, Fla., and has worked four times since returning to Belmont Park for Jimmy Jerkens.
"She did very well down in Florida, we haven't had any problems," said Jerkens. "She probably could've used one more workout, but everyone's been in the same boat because of the [rainy] weather. We wanted to get her going and get a race into her before the Acorn."
Southern Charmer, Puddy de Luca and Light Green come off first-level allowance wins. The latter two fillies are cross-entered in Saturday's $65,000 Just Smashing Stakes at Monmouth Park.
Puddy de Luca, claimed by Butch Reid from a debut victory over $25,000 maidens, has won all three of her starts at Philadelphia Park. She had clear leads at the pace call in each of those races, but may be hard-pressed through the opening fractions by Light Green.
Light Green won 2 of 3 starts at Gulfstream Park for Todd Pletcher, and her allowance win earned a Beyer of 91. That is the top figure in the race, and it was validated when second-place finisher First Passage came back to win a $50,000 stakes next time out.
