Woody Stephens
 Woody Stephens
While Woody Stephens’ five consecutive Belmont Stakes victories from 1982-1986 ranks among the greatest training feats of all time, more recently, Hall of Famer Nick Zito made history as well in 2004 and 2008 by tripping up the Triple Crown tries of both Smarty Jones and Big Brown. Zito, who saddled Birdstone in 2004 and Da’ Tara in 2008, has sent out more Belmont starters (22) than any other modern-day trainer. Fellow Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lukas, a three-time Belmont winner, is second with 21 starters.
